Thats alot of dialects

There are over a dozen dialects spoken in Japan. They have developed through time and continue to develop. The main distinction between the dialects is Tokyo-type and Kyoto-Osaka-type, these forms are used in different subdivisions.

Wow, I guess not.

It turns out that it is one of the easiest for a beginner to learn because of the simple pronunciation and with a straight forward set of grammatical rules. Sentence structure is also minimal, thought the most difficult of the written form is kanji. It is spoken differently if it is spoken by a man, women or child.

Could we loose the Japanese language over time?

I don't think the Japanese language will ever become extinct, because so many people use not just in Japan, but other places too. There are people who also still want to learn it and they can use that knowledge for if they ever decide to move to Japan of just visit. So, overall the Japanese language will ever be extinct.
